Kijan Bloomfield, Ph.D.

Research Interest

Dr. Kijan Bloomfield (she/her) is a scholar of Africana Religions and Caribbean Studies. Her research areas include Africana Religion, Caribbean political thought, ethnographic methods, and digital humanities. Dr. Bloomfield’s current book manuscript relies on field work conducted in Kingston, Jamaica to explore the role of religion in the history of social change in the country from the late 19th century to the present. Her work has been published in the Journal of Africana Religion and The Immanent Frame. She holds a Ph.D. in Religion from Princeton University with a concentration in African American Studies, a Master of Arts in International and Transcultural Education from Teachers College Columbia University, and bachelor’s degree in religion from Bowdoin College.
