The DEI Office of the Columbia School of Social Work invites you to join in celebrating Black History Month with a discussion of “Black Heritage: Narratives on History, Belonging, and Activism.”
Moderated by Karma Lowe, Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion & Community Engagement, the panel will feature four speakers of various specializations, who are committed to equity and inclusion for Black and African-American folx, as well as other historically marginalized populations:
- Angelica Lindsey-Ali “The Village Auntie” (BIO): Certified sexual health educator with African & Islamic perspectives; Community scholar, storyteller & professional dancer
- Devin Lowe (BIO): Founder & CEO, Black Trans Travel Fund; Actor & media producer; 2020 Root 100 list of most influential African Americans
- The Rev. Kyndra Frazier, LCSW ’14 (BIO): Founder & CEO, KYND Consulting Inc.; Thought leader, filmmaker & spiritual activist; 2020 Root 100 list of most influential African Americans
- Yomi Wrong (BIO): Disability justice dreamer & activist; Healthcare accessibility compliance focus; Freelance journalist; Former Executive Director of the Center for Independent Living Inc.
They will share their personal stories, perspectives on history and belonging, and strategies for sustaining activism and healing.
