Uchenna Itamis an art historian and curator specializing in modern and contemporary art practices of the United States. Her research focuses on politics of identity and representation as well as multisensory approaches to the aesthetic experience. As a founding member of the curatorial collective INGZ, Uchenna has presented exhibitions by artists LaToya Ruby Frazier, Kenya (Robinson), and Mimi Cherono Ng'ok among others. In 2020, she was appointed Curator of the Henry Luce Foundation African American Collecting Initiative at the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution. Uchenna holds a Ph.D in Art History from The University of Texas at Austin, a M.A. in the Humanities from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in Art History from the University of Pennsylvania.
