Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences has announced the creation of a new doctoral program in African American and African Diaspora Studies.
The announcement described the interdisciplinary PhD program as a pioneering initiative aimed at deepening our understanding of Black histories, cultures, and intellectual traditions. The program is designed to educate the next generation of scholars, activists, and leaders dedicated to the study of people of African descent across the United States, the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, and beyond.
Prospective students will be able to apply in the fall of 2025 for the program, which will begin in 2026.
More details will be forthcoming soon from the Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies.
